All ceramic crowns are a type of cosmetic crown that are made from tooth-colored ceramic materials. Porcelain dental crowns, also known as “caps”, are coverings placed over a tooth to provide restored structural and aesthetic support to teeth that are heavily decayed, damaged, or broken down. Ceramic crowns eliminate the common complaint of “black lines” around crowns because they are made without a metal understructure. Because of the translucent nature of the material, this type of crown blends more naturally with the surrounding teeth.
